The Muscatine County Board of Supervisors met in regular session at 9:00 A.M. with
Howard, Kelly, Sauer and Sorensen present. Chairperson Sorensen presiding. Furlong
was absent
On a motion by Kelly, second by Sauer, the agenda was approved as written. Ayes: All.
On a motion by Kelly, second by Howard, the Board approved the hiring of Barry Major,
Jr. as a full-time Corrections Officer. Ayes: All.
On a motion by Howard, second by Kelly, the Board approved the hiring of Gavin
Whittaker as a part-time Corrections Officer. Ayes: All.
On a motion by Howard, second by Kelly, the following utility permits were approved:
Eastern Iowa Light and Power - replace poles and conductor in the County Right-of-Way
along Kelly Avenue from 155

Streets and at the corner of 111

Ave.; West Liberty Telephone Company - place cable along 100th Street from X42 west
to Indian Ave; Windstream Communications - plow/bore fiber optic cable from the

Communications – place a 24-fiber cable from the north edge of Letts, to the Sprint tower

County Engineer Keith White updated the Board on County roads projects.
On a motion by Kelly, second by Sauer, minutes of the Monday, July 8, 2013 regular
meeting were approved as written. Ayes: All.
Correspondence:
Howard received a contact regarding dust control on 180

Saur received a call regarding culvert issues.
Committee Reports:
Howard attended a Milestones Board meeting July 8th.
Howard attended a Muscatine Search and Rescue meeting July 10th.
Howard and Sauer attended a Deep Lakes Steering Committee meeting July 10th.
Sorenson and Kelly attended a MAGIC Committee meeting July 8th.
Kelly attended a Region 9 Transportation Policy Board meeting July 9

Kelly attended a Seventh Judicial District meeting July 12th.
Howard attended a Fruitland City Council meeting July 9

. Kelly announced the

echoed her statements and commented everyone on the fair board works hard to make it a
successful event.
On a motion by Howard, second by Sauer, the Board approved resolution #07-15-13-01
transferring $5,000 in funds from the General Basic Fund to the Conservation Youth
Corps Fund. Roll call vote: Ayes: All.
