COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Barb Christensen reported.
1) Gift from Nancy Purington
– Nancy Purington gifted the “Meditation of the Mississippi:
Genesis, 2009” painting to the Art Center. Nancy is an Iowa City artist who grew up along the Mississippi
River and for many years the river has been a theme in her work. She had two major exhibits at the
Muscatine Art Center; the most recent called “Twelve Views of Water” which was exhibited here in 2009.
Barb is a longtime friend of Nancy’s and feels this painting will fit nicely in the Mississippi collection.
2) Wilmer Collection
of eleven significant works of art is currently on view in the Musser
Museum Gallery. Dorothy Johnson, Roy J. Carver Professor of Art History at the University of Iowa, will
present a special lecture and tour of the Wilmer collection on Saturday, April 30, 2011, at 2:00 PM.

– the lights are working.
3)
Elevators
- The City received a bid from KONE at a cost of over $20,000 per elevator. Barb
Christensen will continue to monitor the progress of this project and provide updates as this is a safety
issue to both employees and visitors at the Art Center. The cost of this project will come out of the
Buildings & Grounds budget. No action required.

$18,228.00 for Phase 2 of the landscape plan. This bid includes landscaping, stone removal, matching
