Press Information
On Monday, January 25, 2010, at 0956 hours, the Muscatine Police Department and the
Muscatine Fire Department responded to the US Hwy 61 (Bypass) at the Hershey Ave
overpass for a collision involving a Ford SUV and a cement truck.
The cement truck is owned by Hahn Ready Mix Company of Muscatine and was driven
by Guy Hahn who is a resident of Letts, IA. . The 2001 Ford Explorer is owned and was
operated by Dixie Kay Swift who is a resident of West Chester, IA.
The 2001 Ford Explorer was northbound on US Hwy 61 nearing the overpass of Hershey
Ave when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crossed the median. The Ford
Explorer entered the southbound traffic way. The Hahn Ready Mix cement truck was
traveling south on US Hwy 61 and struck the Ford Explorer on the passenger side.
Dixie Swift was transported from the scene by the Muscatine Fire Department
Ambulance to Unity Hospital where she is receiving treatment.
The incident remains under investigation by the Muscatine Police Department.
The Muscatine Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Muscatine County
Sheriff’s Office, the Muscatine County Sheriff’s Patrol, the Iowa State Patrol and the
Iowa Department of Transportation.
