AIRPORT ADVISORY COMMISSION MINUTES
MONDAY – NOVEMBER 26, 2007
AIRPORT TERMINAL BUILDING
The Muscatine Airport Advisory Commission meeting was called to order at 5:20 p.m. by Assistant
Chairperson Phil Fitzgerald. Other Commission members present were Wayne Tooman and Jerald Cale. Also
present were City Administrator A.J. Johnson and Airport Manager Janet Lewis.
The first item on the agenda was approval of the minutes of the August 27, 2007 meeting.
It was moved by Commission member Tooman and seconded by Commission member Cale that the
minutes be approved. There was no discussion and the minutes were approved unanimously.
The next discussion concerned the financial updates. City Administrator Johnson stated there was
nothing unusual in the current financial information and that everything seemed to be on track.
The next item on the agenda was a review of the five-year capital improvement plan. This document
was included in the materials previously sent to Commission members and was being reviewed at this time.
There was considerable discussion concerning the replacement of t-hangars. City Administrator Johnson
mentioned that he had been approached by two individuals who wanted to know if they would be able to
build their own t-hangars or possibly invest with the city to build additional t-hangars past their own personal
use. After further discussion, it was the unanimous opinion of the Commission members that they did not
wish to partner with anyone at this time for t-hangars. They felt the city should be in that business alone and
that if an individual wishes to build a private hangar, they would consider that option. City Administrator
Johnson will inform those who inquired about the decision of the Commission.
Under other business, there was a question raised concerning the removal of weeds in the runway.
City Administrator Johnson stated he would find out when they were last sprayed. Also, lighting issues at the
airport were brought up. It was noted that everyone who flies into the airport should bring any deficiencies to
the attention of the staff. The lights are being worked on at this time.
With no further business to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 5:50 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
A.J. Johnson
City Administrator
