    Tuesday, January 8, 2008 – Special
    The Muscatine County Board of Supervisors met in special session at 9:00 A.M. with
    Shoultz, Dean, Furlong, Kelly and Watkins present. Chairperson Furlong presiding.
    On a motion by Shoultz, second by Watkins, the agenda was approved as written. Ayes:
    All.
    The Board heard budget requests for FY08/09 from outside agencies.

    The Board recessed at 11:27 A.M. and reconvened at 1:00 P.M. to hear budget requests
    for FY08/09 from outside agencies with Shoultz, Dean, Furlong, Kelly and Watkins
    present.

    On a motion by Dean, second by Kelly, the Board voted on the implementation of a
    County-wide levy to fund Joint Communications. Furlong stated that he felt there needed
    to be more study. Watkins stated that if County taxpayers share cost equally the Board of
    Supervisors should govern joint communications. Shoultz stated that he would like more

    discussion and feels action at this time is premature. Ayes: Dean and Kelly. Nays:
    Shoultz, Furlong and Watkins. Motion failed.
    The meeting adjourned at 1:49 P.M.
